The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) will host a seminar promoting good corporate governance (CG) by using blind trusts to manage securities of cabinet members. These trusts will meet international standards. SET’s event, “Transparent investment and transparent political systems through blind trusts,” is free of charge and open to the general public.
Upon assuming office, Cabinet members must place their securities holdings in excess of the limit specified in the Management of Partnership Stakes and Shares of Ministers Act, B.E. 2543 (2000) and Constitution of The Kingdom of Thailand, B.E.2550 (2007) section 269 in blind trusts until they leave office, to lessen conflicts of interest.
SET will also encourage politicians to invest in the capital market with transparency by using these trusts as asset management tools.
“SET has consistently supported good CG in Thai society, including by listed companies, transparency and fairness of securities trading, including the CG learning in educational institutions. This seminar is another form of CG promotion,” said Ms. Patareeya Benjapolchai, SET president.
The event will be on January 15, 13:00-16:30 hours at SET Building, Ratchadapisek Road Bangkok.
