Thai Airways International Public Company Limited is formulating a Business Improvement Plan 2009-2011, to be completed by mid-February 2009.
ACM Narongsak Sangapong, THAI’s Senior Executive Vice President, Corporate Secretariat and Acting President, said that THAI is now working on the Business Improvement Plan 2009-2011, in order to improve operations efficiency, prepare the company for the changing business environment and to shore up THAI’s liquidity. The Business Improvement Plan 2009-2011 will emphasize increasing revenue through improving yield, enhancing E-Commerce system to broaden internet sales, as well as revising flight frequency on non-profitable routes. THAI is also working on cost and expense control measures, such as reducing fuel utilization and staff expense, including rationalize unnecessary investments. Asset management such as fleet adjustment, old aircraft retirement, onboard product and service improvement such as seats and in flight entertainment is part of the plan.
Meanwhile, THAI is in the process of hiring financial and strategic consultancy firms to assist in developing a turnaround strategy and improving on operations and competition. The Business Improvement Plan 2009-2011 will be finalized and submitted to the Ministry of Transport and the State Enterprise Policy Office (SEPO), Thailand’s Ministry of Finance, within the established date.
