Bangkok--3 Feb--Thai Airways International
Thai Airways International Public Company Limited announces more flight frequencies to New Delhi and Mumbai.
ACM Narongsak Sangapong, THAI’s Senior Executive Vice President, Corporate Secretariat and Acting President, stated that starting from the 1st February 2009, THAI will be operating 14 flights per week to New Delhi and Mumbai. There were 7 flights per week prior to this new introduction. The new frequency of 14 fights per week is to meet with greater travel demand to India’s two major cities.
As a result of airports closure in November and December 2008, THAI had to reduce around 11% of its flight frequencies from normal schedule due to the decline in the number of passengers on many routes. However, the number of passenger in January has shown to be well on the rise. Despite not having the same figures as last year, the numbers in January is much higher than forecasted, giving a good sign that businessmen and tourists from overseas have regained their confidence in Thailand.
On international routes, besides adding frequencies to India, THAI is currently considering adding more flight frequencies to Munich, Milan, Seoul, Guangzhou and Fukuoka, where there are increased travel demand. THAI expects to resume normal operations to these destinations in March 2009.
On domestic flights, THAI has increased flight frequencies to Udon Thani and Ubon Ratchathani, from 2 flights to 3 flights daily, as of 1st February 2009 onwards.
