ข่าวทั่วไป Thursday February 12, 2009 13:53 —PRESS RELEASE LOCAL

Bangkok--12 Feb--New International School NIST (The New International School of Thailand) will celebrate its annual International Day festival on Saturday, February 21, 2009, from 10 am to 4:30 pm at its Sukhumvit Soi 15 campus. There will be games, rides, international entertainment and food, retail gifts and crafts, and a “tour” of the world provided by the various nationalities of the NIST families. Approximately 56 retail outlets will have booths selling everything from jewelry, to silk handbags and clothing, to Thai crafts, children’s books, and toys. Over 38 different food vendors will provide a selection of international cuisine and drinks, including Mexican, British, American, Japanese, Korean, Indian, Singaporean and Thai dishes. There will be margaritas, sake, samosas, curries, som tam, sausages, sushi and more. There will also be some worthwhile community groups such as Habitat for Humanity and Amnesty International at the festival run by students and raising money. Loads of games and rides will be available for children of all ages. On the day will be bungy jumping, super slides, slippery slides, bouncy castles and more. In the Country Booth Hall, visitors can tour the NIST World. NIST parents have created booths around the theme “A Celebration of World Languages; Hear the Voices of the World,” in line with the United Nation’s year-long celebration of Mother Tongue languages. It is a great way to tour the world without leaving Bangkok. Entertainment will be provided by NIST Student bands and outside groups such as the British Club Pipe and Drum Band, as well as cultural dances from the Philippines, Japan, Korea, Scotland, Taiwan, India and Thailand. A grand raffle will conclude the day. There will be something for everyone. As Simon Leslie, NIST’s Headmaster said, “International Day is a wonderful opportunity to stand up and be proud of where we originate from and to present a little of our own culture to the rest of the NIST world while also celebrating the spirit of NIST.” NIST is very fortunate indeed to host parents, students and teachers from a variety of countries around the globe. At the present time, NIST numbers 52 different nationalities, each of which contributes to the NIST culture and community in their own special way. Come help us celebrate.
