Fitch Ratings will hold a teleconference on Monday 23 February 9 at 2:00PM (Australian AEDT) / 11:00AM SG/HK to discuss the agency's credit outlook for the Australian banking sector.
While Australian banks have performed well throughout the credit crisis and are likely to report solid first-half profits in 2009, the economy is deteriorating and impaired assets are on the rise. In this teleconference, Fitch will provide an overview of the Australian sovereign outlook and then examine how deterioration in the external environment is likely to impact the major Australian banks.
The call will be hosted by John Miles, Senior Director in the agency's Financial Institutions team. He will be joined by Ngiam Ai Ling, Director in Fitch's Sovereign ratings team.
This teleconference follows the release of Fitch's report, "Banks in Asia (Excluding Japan): Outlook for 2009", which is available on www.fitchratings.com.
Opening remarks will last approximately 20 minutes, followed by a short Q&A session for interested participants.
