Bangkok--24 Feb--Image Impact Battleplan is a military-based television documentary series examing the various military strategies used in modern warfare, since World War I (1914—18) up to the recent Iraq War (2003). It is shown on the Military Channel and UKTV History. Each episode looks at a particular military strategy (or "battleplan") used in warfare, through two well-known historical examples and compares them both with the military requirements needed in order to conduct that "Battleplan". This fascinating series examines the history of military tactics, from blitzkrieg to blockade, raiding operations to strategic bombing and on to guerrilla warfare. BATTLEPLAN provides an in-depth history and analysis of the development of warfare, examining how the invention of aircraft changed the way wars are fought and how a smaller force can win a battle with the right tactics. The intellectual analysis to be found within BATTLEPLAN will fascinate viewers of all ages and all military knowledge levels. Program Title: Blitzkrieg Channel: HISTORY on TrueVisions A23 and D48Telecast Date: Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at 8.00 p.m. (Thai) Blitzkrieg literally means Lightning War, a combat strategy that is hard, fast and merciless. The idea of defeating your enemy using shock tactics to break his line, and fast-moving forces to penetrate deeply and throw him back in confusion, is as old as warfare itself. But not until the development of tanks and aircraft did commanders get the power to carry out this Battleplan to perfection. This programme examines the factors which are essential for modern Blitzkrieg to work, and the inherent dangers which can threaten disaster. Each aspect is then looked at in relation to two brilliant examples: Operation ‘Yellow’ in May 1940, when German Panzer forces sliced almost 250 miles behind the main French and British armies and trapped them against the sea around Dunkirk in 15 days. Operation ‘Iraqi Freedom’ in March 2003, when American mechanised forces went even further and faster, racing over 350 miles through Iraq in 15 days to overthrow Saddam Hussein’s regime. Never before had the Battleplan pioneered in combat by Hitler’s Panzers been used so effectively. For further information, please contact Image Impact Ltd.
