Software Industry Promotion Agency (Public Organization) or SIPA, a major supporter in holding the “Thailand Software Fair 2009”, leads to present the technology innovation and software solutions made by Thai with the concept “Turn crisis into opportunity with software industry”. It is 1 million Baht from Department of Industrial Promotion to promote the fair with the special promotion of 50% discount in purchasing software or not exceed 10,000 Baht, as hoping SMEs will be more interested in using Thai software in order to increase effectiveness in working of the organization.
2nd Lt. Ranongrak Suwannachawee WRTA, the Minister of Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, said during the open ceremony of Thailand Software Fair 2009 on February 20th, 2009 at the 3rd Hall on the 5th Floor of Siam Paragon that “MICT has a strategy and vision to support Thailand to have a role in Asian Region as a hub of Information and Communication Technology, as well as supporting and developing the use of ICT technology in every different part to develop the country in many sectors. The Thailand Software Fair 2009 will help Thai software industry to publicize itself to either local or foreign people and encourage people to treasure software technology created by Thai that will bring to the use of that software in order to develop the working system in an organization effectively”.
Dr. Rungruang Limchoopatipa, the president of Software Industry Promotion Agency (Public Organization) or SIPA talked about the overall picture of this fair that “SIPA is a main sector in arranging Thailand Software Fair 2009 and intends to continually hold this event as a major activity by SIPA in the next years. The concept of the year 2009 is “Turn global crisis into Thai opportunity with software industry”; which corresponds to the current economic circumstance. SIPA sees that the more the economic situation is bad, the more the necessity in building the confidence and alertness among people in planning the work flow for the efficient working process in the organization and one of many element for systematical organization and controlling Human Error is software.
Dr. Rungruang added that “To show software solution products in this fair, we want to make an understanding and awareness among people that “software” is something normal and approachable, to see the factual connection between hardware and software. The fair can have attention of many interested persons in IT work field, SMEs and normal people, as well as the government sector and every private sectors to participated in this fair. We expect that there will be visitors over 50,000 people.
SIPA’s booth will be emphasized on the overall operation of the year 2008 and the presentation of the Office of His Majesty’s Principal Private Secretary’s website www.ohmpps.go.th and other interesting activities. We hope that Thailand Software Fair 2009 will get a warm welcome from everyone including school students, university students, and the families that would like to bring their children to see Thai software innovation in order to inspire them to appropriately apply ICT technology in daily life in the future.”
Mr. Pramote Wittayasuk, the Director-General of Department of Industrial Promotion, Ministry of Industry Thailand, told about the learning activities to urge the use of Thai software in the company among SMEs that “Department of Industrial Promotion or DIP sees the importance of using information technology in SMEs according to the policy of the government that will support the SMEs to use software or IT working system for more effective work but less cost of expense in the organization, therefore it is the project of Enhancing SMEs Competitiveness Through IT: ECIT with many activities to help and support both SMEs and Thailand’s software house in order to increase competitive capability. The activity “Learning Constructed for Increasingly Use of Thai Software” is one of other activities in this project. From the received information from the software industry, the estimation of the growing of the market is increasing every year, however over 80% of the expense in software industry is rather on foreign one than Thai’s. The main factor in persuading the industrial business companies to use Thai software is not so many. It is to say that most of them lack of acknowledgement how the IT can raise the effectiveness in work and has no information that presently the capability of Thai software is not less than the foreign ones. Besides, it lacks of the encouragement in supporting the use of Thai software.
Department of Industrial Promotion, therefore, would like to be a part of promoting and supporting SMEs to apply Thai software for specific business by arranging the activity “Learning Constructed for Increasingly Use of Thai Software” and the seminar to educate the usability of various software in Thailand Software Fair 2009 such as
- The seminar “Increase the sales via online is incredibly easy” from Microsoft (Thailand) Co.,Ltd.
- The seminar about “Reduce the expenses and lower the capital with the systematic Inventory Management” by an expert from the Federation of Thai Industries and
- The seminar “Up-to-date Accounting System: Easy and Fast” by an expert from the Revenue Department.
Besides, there will be an expert about IT to be a consultant for normal people who would like to purchase appropriate software for specific job and for 10 businessmen each day and offers more than 1 million Baht to support and urge the purchase and order of software in the fair. The SMEs will get up to 50% discount or not exceed 10,000 Baht in buying or making order for software in the fair. It is expected that the completed activities in Thailand Software Fair 2009 will be able to stimulate over 100 SMEs to make a decision in purchasing software to sue in the business. For a long term, Department of Industrial Promotion will keep on supporting this activity in order to acknowledge people to understand about the application of IT in industrial business and arouse SMEs to increasingly use Thai software, which will result in much thriving and developing in Thai software”.
Apart from the presentation of software technology and ICT innovation in Thailand Software Fair 2009, there is the seminar arranged for normal people, that is divided into 3 zones, which are;
1. The middle stage (Software Showcase) is a seminar and demonstration of software solution that will offer the software company’s owners good opportunity to introduce and demonstrate their own products.
2. The seminar about IT Solutions will aim to demonstrate and show software technology innovation by Thai as well as to acknowledge participants in buying appropriate software for particular type of business.
3. The seminar in Intelligence Technology is to show the capability of ICT technology in Thailand and to show the social responsibility, it is therefore a technology to support the demand of user and friendly to an environment, a society and the country such as Green IT, Telesales Software for the disabled in order to help them to be able to work at home and Software for the family and the society.
Additionally, it is the business negotiation corner to provide the convenience for businessmen, SMEs and interested persons to have the conversation with software companies, see the demonstration of the products or have the private deal.
Thailand Software Fair 2009 will be held during February 20th to 22nd, 2009 between 10.00 am. and 8.00 pm. at the 3rd Hall on the 5th Floor of Siam Paragon.
