AAPICO ITS Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of AAPICO Hitech PCL, today unveiled Thailand’s first real 3D car navigation software, the Powermap X2.
In partnership with the world’s leading map producer, Navteq, AAPICO’s Powermap X2 uses locally-developed advanced technology to fully integrate the map and the navigation engine to become Thailand’s first car navigation system to display 3D landmarks and junction views for unique graphic display quality, providing users with confidence and ease in following driving directions even at difficult intersections. Powermap X2 comes with a choice of voice navigation in Thai, English, Malay, Cantonese and Mandarin. Hokkien and Japanese are also being fine-tuned, and are expected to be added to the language selection by the end of February 2009.

The Powermap X2 supports major platforms and devices, and has an adjustable navigation angle and zoom features for better viewing. In fact, it is also equipped to support the Traffic Monitoring Communication (TMC) real-time navigation. The Powermap X2 possesses one of the most complete POI (Point of Interest) databases in Thailand, and currently shows the most extensive 3D rendering of buildings and landmarks in Bangkok and other major cities nationwide. “After covering Thailand, we will produce Powermap X2 software for Malaysia and Singapore with long-term plans to cover SE Asia and Southern China. Our initial aim is to produce the best car navigation system in Southeast Asia. Last year, AAPICO ITS already received Frost & Sullivan’s ‘Most Promising Car Navigation Software Company of the Year (Thailand)’ Award, so I believe we are on track to achieve our dream”, added Mr. Yeap.
The Powermap X2 car navigation software is presently available in AVT, i-fox, JVC, Panasonic, Priority, Worldtech and Zulex products nationwide. Powermap users can get the map upgrade for X2 and all other versions from www.powermap.in.th or at their nearest dealer from the end of February onwards.
