THAI Supports “IATA World Cargo Symposium 2009”

Bangkok--3 Mar--Thai Airways Thai Airways International Public Company Limited cooperates with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to organize the “IATA World Cargo Symposium 2009” from Monday-Thursday, 2-5 March 2009 at Centara Grand Hotel, the Bangkok Convention Centre. The third IATA World Cargo Symposium 2009 combines the theme “Focus on the customer: Delivering in turbulent Times” with the critical need for the cargo supply chain to operate and compete in increasingly turbulent times. The symposium focuses on developing an industry agenda in such turbulent times through executive forums and industry meetings of member of airlines CEOs, industry standard setters and traders from around the world. The conference includes an overview on economic uncertainty, together with escalation of fuel price and security and environmental regulatory demands on air cargo industry. THAI’s Senior Executive Vice President Corporate Secretariat and Acting President, ACM Narongsak Sangapong said that THAI cargo is in support of the company recovery plan caused by the world economic downturn. Review and improvement on utilization of cargo space, equipment and workforce were made to meet future challenges. THAI Cargo has initiated various measures to improve overall services in the area of delivery and cargo management system, at the same time increasing sales and revenues through series of campaigns and activities. The development on THAI’s current technologies will be highlighted in 3 areas: e-payment, e-freight and C2K or Cargo 2000. This strategy will establish quality standard for the industry as a whole as well as reducing cost. Furthermore, the rules and regulations set by IATA will ensure airlines to operate safely and effectively in accordance with international requirements. “IATA World Cargo Symposium 2009” is a prestigious event which will gather numerous of cargo business experts to share the latest knowledge, benchmarks and best practices in the air cargo industry.
