SCB appoints new executives to strengthen research and fund management arms

Bangkok--5 Mar--SCB In an attempt to strengthen its leadership as a universal banking group providing a full range of financial services, Siam Commercial Bank has established the SCB Center for Economic and Business Intelligence with the aim of providing its customers with helpful economic and business data. The newly-established center will be headed by former president of SCB Asset Management Co., Ltd. (SCBAM) Dr. Sethaput Suthiwart-Narueput, who will act as Executive Vice President in charge of economic and business research work for the SCB group. In addition, the Bank has announced that Mrs. Jotika Savanananda will succeed Dr. Sethaput as SCB Asset Management President. The appointment of the two senior executives becomes effective on March 1, 2009. SCB President Kannikar Chalitaporn said: “we are very glad to get two topnotch experts to join with the Bank and confident it will help strengthen SCB Group business performance in the future.” “With the establishment of the SCB Center for Economic and Business Intelligence,” she said, “the Bank and companies under its umbrella, as well as its customers, will be provided with economic and business data useful for making important business decisions.” “In my view, Dr. Sethaput is the most suitable person for the job because of his vast finance and securities experience. With his expertise and recognition as a leading academic and economist, we believe he will be capable of bringing the quality of the Bank's research to even greater heights,” she said. As for Khun Jotika, the SCB president said: “she is a smart executive woman with an outstanding performance record in the finance and fund management field. With her long experience and great expertise, we are confident that Khun Jotika will be able to help distinguish the SCBAM fund management style so that the company can maintain its dominate market share in the country.” Dr. Sethaput has been widely recognized as a topnotch Thai economist of the new generation. He worked with the World Bank as a senior economist for 9 years, followed by a position as the Director of the Ministry of Finance's Economic Research Institute in 1997 when the country experienced an economic crisis. Before joining SCB Securities Co., Ltd. and SCB Asset Management Co., Ltd., he was an Executive Vice President of the Stock Exchange of Thailand supervising research and information for more than 2 years. Mrs. Jotika received an MBA in Finance and International Business from the Sasin Graduate School of Management. She has worked with Baring Research Limited as Vice President of the Securities Analysis Division and Asset Plus Securities PCL as Executive Vice President in charge of corporate advisory, sponsoring, and underwriting of securities, and is one of founders of TMB Asset Management Co.
