Bangkok--9 Mar--Krungthai Card
Mr. Staporn Sirisinha, Senior Executive Vice President — Leisure Marketing Department, “KTC” or Krungthai Card Public Company Limited, Mr. Charoen Wangananont, President of Thai Travel Agents Association (TTAA), Miss Maiyarat Pheerayakoses, President of The Association of Domestic Travel (ADT) and Mr. Somkiat Rungthaveephon, Commercial Department Director, Thai Amadeus Southeast Asia Company Limited cooperatively organized the largest travel fair in Southeast Asia “Thai International Travel Fair 2009”. His Excellency Abhisit Vejjajiva, Prime Minister, recently presided over its opening ceremony at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. This year the fair has the lucid premise to assist business owners, stimulate tourism business and generate revenue for Thailand. Interesting travel routes both domestic and around the world were presented in the fair to offer alternatives for travelers and KTC members to explore the wide variety and full range of traveling. Within the four-day period of the fair, there were over 700,000 KTC members and interested people visiting the fair, generating 800 million Baht spending which was 60% increment compared with the spending of 500 million Baht in 2008. The spending via KTC credit cards reached over 240 million Baht which was 93% increment from 124 million Baht credit card spending in 2008. This was the highest credit card spending ever since the fair was organized. This fair was pleasingly successful because it helped stimulate the private sector to spend according to the Government economic stimulation policy. Another reason might be the worthiness the customers obtained from purchasing quality goods and services at the fair. Moreover, they received even greater convenience and value every time they made purchase by credit cards.”
“The overall picture of the fair showed that Thai people expressed greater interest in domestic travel as seen from the increasing reservation of hotels, tour package and airplane tickets. Although the present economy is still highly unstable, traveling has become another factor of living. Thai people still need traveling to relax and replenish themselves with energy for handling problems. The main factor that made us succeed in organizing this travel fair was the cooperation between public and private sectors and various organizations, which include, KTC, TTAA, ADT and Thai-Amadeus, who shared the same goal to organize the most beneficial travel fair for every tourism business owner including airlines, travel agencies, hotels, car rentals, tourist attractions and the consumers and KTC members who love to travel. We plan to continuously organize travel fair which also helps stimulate Thai economy.”
