Bangkok--17 Mar--SET
The Thai futures exchange has revised its Internet trading rules by raising the maximum number of contracts per order and cancelling its price change limits. The bourse will also report on the top five bids and top five offers, up from the top three of each. These revisions will be effective on March 23, 2009, and will facilitate trading.
“Currently, investors can buy or sell up to only 20 contracts per order of SET50 Index futures, or up to only 100 contracts per order of SET50 Index options and stock futures. If they wish to exceed these limits, they have to split their desired amount into several orders or request marketers to place orders on their behalf. However, when the revisions become effective, investors can daily submit their orders subject to higher ceilings: 100 contracts per order for SET Index Futures, and 500 contracts per order for SET50 Index Options and Stock Futures, Thailand Futures Exchange (TFEX) Managing Director Kesara Manchusree reported.
Moreover, TFEX has eliminated the price change limits for the above derivatives products. Before the change, bids or offers for SET50 Index futures and stock futures could vary from the latest trading price by not over 5%, while orders for SET50 Index options had to be not over 5% of the previous day’s SET50 Index value. The new rules will permit investors to submit prices even over 5% of the last execution price for SET50 Index futures and stock futures, or over 5% of the previous day’s SET50 Index value, as the case may be, subject to daily price limits. However, investors will be asked to confirm their bid/offer prices, which is the same procedure applied to marketers.
Starting from the same effective date, TFEX will distribute information on more best bids and offers, using both the Internet and marketers.
“This new rules help investors trade more conveniently, especially during volatile markets. With more flexibility and information, investors can more effectively analyze the market and benefit from it,” Ms. Kesara concluded.
