Bangkok--31 Mar--Spark Communications
Microchip Technology Inc., a leading provider of microcontroller and analog semiconductors, announced it is named one of the top ten organizations in the Hewitt “Best Employers in Thailand 2009” study. The award recognizes the powerful policy that Microchip maintains throughout all levels of the corporation where employees are considered to be the greatest asset.
“This award is a tribute to the more than 5,000 Microchip employees around the world who are aligned and working together to achieve the same goals with a common set of values,” said Mathew Bunker, vice president and managing director of Microchip Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd. “Microchip’s culture is based upon the aggregate system that systematically implements many keys to success, rather than focusing on one magic system, unlike 5S or Six Sigma.”
“In the aggregate system, employees are our greatest strength. Each employee makes many decisions every day that are vital to our quest in delighting our customer base of over 60,000 companies. We are grateful for the hard work and hearts of our employees, especially during these challenging economic times.”
Headquartered in Chandler, Arizona, Microchip opened its Thailand facility located southeast of Bangkok in 1997. Today, the company employs some 2,000 people who perform product assembly, testing and new product development.
Mr. Ian Till, country manager at Hewitt Thailand, said: “Most organizations in Thailand are facing similar impacts from the deteriorating economic situation due both to the global crisis and the recent local political situation. This year’s study revealed that “The Best” employers have captured higher market share (revenue) and delivered higher profitability when compared against “The Rest” during the past two years.”
According to Hewitt, “The Best “ have focused not just on capturing market share, but also on creating more efficient businesses. Hewitt “Best Employers” display exemplary effectiveness in dealing with the current uncertainties, using good communication through every level and through involving employees in executing targeted initiatives.
More than 70 organizations registered to participate in the study, the fourth of its kind so far in Thailand, representing a mix across 13 different industries and the points of view of more than 90,000 full-time employees.
The 10 “Best Employers” were short-listed for consideration by a Thailand judging panel, chaired by Professor Siriyupa Roongrerngsuke, Ph. D., executive director, head of human resource program, Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration of Chulalongkorn University. Winners were announced at an awards ceremony on March 23, 2009.
