Bangkok--2 Apr--Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Co., Ltd. announced its success in water management system concerning reduction of waste water released from production process in Ratchaburi Power Plant. Currently, the Company is combining new technology of Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Ultra Filer (UF) in order to improve quality of waste water from the cooling tower for reusing in power generating process. At the same time, the Company is organizing the opening ceremony of Cooling Water Reuse Plant: CWRP amounted over 200 Million Baht. Mr. Pornchai Rujiprapa, the Permanent Secretary of Energy presided over the ceremony as a chairman. The mentioned success reflects the Company’s ambition in social responsibility especially for environmental and natural resources concern. Mr. Prachuab Ujjin, the Managing Director of Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Co., Ltd. said that the Waste Water Reduction project is the Company’s water management system, which enhances the efficiency in production process. The project has been developed since 2007. In March 2009, the Company started reusing waste water from cooling tower to improve its quality by RO and UF Technology for power generating of Ratchaburi Power Plant. This can reduce the use of water reservoir and deduct waste water released to the nearby canal as well as minimizing chemical substances used in water treatment process. This project would give the return of investment to the Company within 10 years. In addition, the Company assured that the social and community around the power plant would get more benefits from this project. The waste water from cooling tower, which is precipitated and treated in lower temperature in the water treatment tank to refresh its status, is transferred to the Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Ultra Filer (UF) process in order to improve its quality and reuse in production process. This could help Ratchaburi Power Plant to reduce the use of raw water in production process as well as water released to the nearby canal by 6% and 13% respectively comparing with pre-installation of RO and UF system. Moreover, it would benefit the Company in terms of significant cost saving. The Research and Laboratory Development Center, Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health has proved that the quality of water being improved from RO and UF system that it is at standard level of drinking water, according to the announcement number 61 issued in1981. Ratchaburi Power Plant could reuse the water being improved from RO and UF system in its production process instead of releasing to nearby canal due to the quality of RO and UF water is as water used in daily life. In order that the Company is considering the suitability of letting community around the power plant using the RO and UF water for their consumption. The Waste Water Reduction project of Ratchaburi Power Plant is a continuous project started in 2007 consisting of three sub-projects: the waste water reduction from natural way of treatment on 350 rai’s area, the automatic planting system in power plant, the reuse of waste water improved from Reverse Osmosis and Ultra Filer Technology. As a result from these three projects, the waste water treated in a standard level is reused for planting in power plant by 26%, natural way of treatment by 18%, improving its quality for production process by 13% and the rest of 43% releasing to the natural canal.
