H.E. General Surayud Chulanont, Privy Council and Chancellor of KMITL’s Council, has presided over the opening ceremony of “Bangkok21 — towards a world-class transit-oriented metropolis” seminar and exhibition held on Wednesday 1st April, 2009.
King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and Siemens have jointly implemented the “Bangkok 21” initiative to study and identify ways to propel Bangkok towards a world-class metropolis by the middle of the century (2050). This study has recommended a “transit oriented development” to prepare Bangkok for this vision.
Bangkok 21 Project supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), is a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) initiative between GTZ and Siemens. The study conducted from June 2007 to December 2008 by ITS Consultancy Group from Hong Kong and Albert Speer & Partners from Germany providing strategic advice on development priorities for Bangkok and on the required performance levels to improve the quality of life.
H.E. Dr. Hanns Heinrich Schumacher, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Thailand has also delivered his speech at the event together with the high ranking executives from three involved parties.
