Small and medium-sized enterprises in Thailand entitled to a 35% reduction in licensing fees for Microsoft Office SMB
Microsoft (Thailand) Limited has today announced a special discount on its popular Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 software package with a special 35% reduction of the software licensing costs in an attempt to trigger more spending within the local IT market and boost the competitiveness of small and medium businesses in Thailand during the current economic crisis.
The move comes hot on the heels of Microsoft’s ‘Crisis Turning Point’ campaign which was launched at the end of last year to respond to the economic downturn and help customers reduce costs and maximize efficiency by leveraging their existing IT assets. Moreover, the new promotion has been designed to support the Thai government’s policy to reduce intellectual property rights infringements by making genuine software more accessible and affordable to users in Thailand.
Speaking on the objectives of this campaign, Patama Chantaruck, Managing Director, Microsoft (Thailand) Limited revealed that, “This is a unique campaign that reflects the unique economic circumstances that we are facing today. Microsoft aims to support entrepreneurs by giving them increased opportunities to effectively use IT has a means of expanding their business efficiency and competitiveness, both domestically and abroad on the international stage. We expect that this special campaign will stimulate IT spending amongst small and medium businesses, which will in turn benefit a whole host of other supporting businesses and industries, ultimately contributing to a much-needed boost within the national economy as a whole.”
“Moreover we hope that as more SMEs take advantage of this campaign, it will encourage more businesses to understand and enjoy the benefits of using licensed software — which will support the government’s goal of cutting Thailand’s piracy rate by 10%, to 68%. In fact, this promotion follows a number of other Microsoft activities that have been designed to support this goal by focusing on educating users about the benefits of genuine software, the significance of intellectual property rights and how local developers can protect themselves to make sure that their hard work is not wasted,” added Patama.
Also included in this campaign is a special give-away package worth 18,500 baht for any SME that spends 800,000 baht on Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 Open License Business NL (License Only), Open Value or Open Value Subscription. Eligible participants will then receive exclusive movie vouchers for 5 couples (10 seats) at the members-only Enigma Cinema at Paragon Cineplex, valued at 15,000 baht, as well as 10 massage coupons to be used at Health Land, valued at 3,500 baht.
