McKinnon & Clarke in Malaysia recently attended "The Electrical Energy Regulations 2008 & Carbon Management & Financing" seminar organized by the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM). The seminar was organized to allow FMM's members access to information on a legislative framework on the efficient use of electrical energy which had been gazetted on December 15, 2008 as well as several pertinent issues:
- Detailed coverage of the Efficient Management of Electrical Energy Regulations 2008.
- How to become a certified as an energy manager.
- Enhanced incentives for energy conservation, renewable energy and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
- Energy efficiency guidelines and best practices
- What to expect during the energy audits
- How to manage carbon emissions
- The financing, incentives and challenges involved in developing emissions reduction projects.
Nicole Tan, McKinnon & Clarke's Environmental Services Specialist, also gave a presentation on "Management of Carbon Emissions And Incentives to Develop Emissions Reduction Projects in Malaysia" The topics covered included: Carbon management, Carbon accounting, Carbon reduction plan, Carbon trading and reporting. Nicole also gave an overview of the CDM concept, the current outlook for CDM in Malaysia, CERs pricing and challenges to develop CDM projects in Malaysia.
