Siam Commercial Bank, Thailand's largest financial institution by market capitalization, has appointed with immediate effect Ms. Supa Piyajitti as a new director succeeding Mrs. Puntip Surathin, who resigned from the position on January 20, 2009, as resolved at the Bank's 186th General Shareholder Meeting.
With extensive experience of more than 20 years at the Finance Ministry, Ms. Supa Piyajitti presently serves as the Ministry's Deputy Permanent Secretary. Prior to this she held various leadership positions at the Ministry, namely as Director of the Bureau of State Enterprises and Government Securities and as Deputy Director-General of the Comptroller General's Department. In addition, she also holds important positions in various institutions, including Vice Chairperson of the Financial Institutions Development Fund, and as Director of the Securities and Stock Exchange Commission (SEC), the National Credit Bureau Company Limited, and the Agricultural Futures Trading Commission (AFTC).
Ms. Supa Piyajitti is widely recognized as an expert in fiscal and monetary matters, accounting, and laws. She earned an M.P.A. in Public Administration from the National Institute of Development Administration, and Bachelor's degrees in law and accounting from Thammasat University. These qualification will be of great benefit to the Bank.
It was also resolved at the 186th General Shareholder Meeting to renew with immediate effect the terms of four other directors, namely Dr. Vichit Suraphongchai, Mr. Bodin Asavanich, Mr. Maris Samaram, and Mr. Tiraphot Vajrabhaya..
