Air Chief Marshal Narongsak Sangapong, Acting President, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, presides over ceremonies to celebrate THAI’s 49th Anniversary on 30 April and 1 May, at THAI’s Head Office.
Thai Airways International Public Company Limited was established on 1 May 1960 as the national carrier of the Kingdom of Thailand, with a fleet of three aircraft serving nine regional destinations out of Bangkok and around 83,000 passengers in its first year of operation.
The company currently carries over 20 million passengers a year to 76 destinations across five continents with a fleet of 85 aircraft. Apart from its airline business, THAI will conduct projects and activities that enhance the company’s environmental awareness policy with emphasis on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
On 30 April 2009, Air Chief Marshal Narongsak Sangapong, THAI’s Acting President, presided over the ceremony, to present certificates to 19 newly appointed captains. This is also a ceremony, to present commemoratives souvenirs to THAI employees who have worked for the company for 25 and 35 years. “Best Employee” Award were also handed out.
To celebrate the company’s anniversary on 1 May 2009, a religious ceremony is held in the morning, presided by THAI’s new chairman, Mr. Ampon Kittiampon. THAI’s Management and staff attend and receive blessing from this rituals ceremony.
Throughout the past 49 years, THAI continues to serve as national carrier and takes pride in representing Thailand internationally. THAI is proud to have attained worldwide recognition by the traveling public and aims to continually develop and make improvements for maximum passenger satisfaction in all areas.
THAI plans to start the service to Oslo, Norway, in Mid June 2009 to widen the network coverage and serve the Scandinavian market.
