Bangkok--11 May--SET
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has set May 12 to be the effective date for narrowing the ceiling and floor prices of stock on the main board that cost less than THB0.10. The new range will be +/- 30% of the previous day’s closing level, the same percentage as other listings on the main board, to reduce price volatility and risks to investors and brokerages. Currently, these low-priced stocks are allowed to change at up to +/- 100% of the previous day’s closing level.
Also effective May 12, SET has narrowed the ceiling and floor prices of low-priced stock on its foreign board. Under the new rules, if the stock costs less than THB0.10 on the main board (not the foreign one), its price will be allowed to range between +/-60% of the previous day’s closing price (on the main board), the same percentage as other stocks. Currently, stocks costing under THB0.10 are allowed to move up to +/-100% of the previous day’s closing level.
However, if the revised ceilings and floors result in price changes that are less than one spread, up or down, the prices will be permitted to change within +/- 1 spread of the previous day’s closing price on the main board. This relaxation of the rules will apply to both stocks on the main and foreign boards.
