Cardholders benefit when they pay with Visa Debit at supermarkets, petrol stations and retail stores.
Visa cardholders can enjoy a rewarding shopping experience when they pay with their Visa Debit cards at merchant locations across Thailand.
Visa cardholders are automatically entered into a lucky draw for every Visa Debit card purchase made from now until 30 September 2009. The more they use their Visa Debit cards for purchases, the more chances they have in the lucky draw. Five lucky draw prizes — Big C gift vouchers worth baht 50,000 — will be given away each month for six consecutive months beginning from June 2009.
Mr. Somboon Krobteeranon, country manager, Thailand, Visa said, “The Visa Debit card is ideal for everyday, non-discretionary purchases such as buying groceries at a supermarket, purchasing petrol and shopping at retail outlets. We are working with issuers and merchants to increase awareness that Visa Debit cards can be used at point-of-sale without the need to stop by an ATM to withdraw cash. Cardholders only need to sign for their purchases as they do with their credit cards.”
Visa Debit cards function like other Visa cards with one key difference - the card gives cardholders direct access to funds from a nominated bank account. A Visa Debit card provides cardholders with a safe and convenient way to pay for goods and services at the point of sale, without the risk of carrying cash.
Visa debit cardholders have the choice to “buy now and pay now”, compared with credit cards, which allow cardholders to ‘buy now and pay later’ or prepaid cards which allows them to ‘buy now and pay before’.
The ‘buy now, pay now’ feature of Visa Debit cards means that funds are deducted directly from the cardholder’s nominated account when they make a transaction. Consumers can also use their Visa Debit cards to make online and phone purchases, and shop wherever Visa is accepted at 29 million merchant locations at home and worldwide.
Additionally, from now until June 2009, Visa Debit cardholders shopping at any Big C Supercenter during the weekend will receive a baht 10 coupon for every baht 300 purchase made.
