Mr.Kanissorn Navanugraha Director General Department of Business Development, discloses today that in response to the policy of the Ministry of Commerce to open up new trade markets for the Thai investors, the Department is staging Middle East 2009 on May 12, 2009 at the Bangkok Convention Center, 5th Floor, Central Plaza Ladprao with Mr. Alongkorn Ponlaboot, the Deputy Minister of Commerce, to honorarily chair the opening ceremony.
Middle East 2009 will encompass various kinds of investment related activities in the Middle East, including a comprehensive exposition, investment clinic and many other useful seminars. One of the highlights is the seminar on “Trade and Investment Rules and Regulations in the Middle East” by Directors of the Thai Trade Centers in the Middle East, e.g. from the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Islamic Republic of Iran.
This will be followed by a lecture on “Open the door to the Middle East” by
? H.E. Mr. Majid Bizmark

To add sugar to spice, there will also be a discussion by successful investors in the Middle East, who will come to share their hard-earned experience on “How to successfully invest in the Middle East” including Khun Sunanta Vuthisakul, the owner of the Thai Orchid Restaurant in the Islamic Republic of Iran, Khun Vibul Sriprasert, President of the Federation of Design and Construction Services of Thailand (FEDCON), and Mr. Abbas Zohrevand, a highly successful spa operator in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“Trades between Thailand and the Middle East countries are prospering. Major imports to Thailand include oil, fertilizer and agricultural chemicals, while major exports include automobiles, auto parts, rice, steel, jewelry and ornaments. This is a golden opportunity for serious investors, as they will not only learn from the many seminars, but they will also expose themselves to rounds of trade talks with trade specialists from all over the Middle East to directly assist them.”
The settings up of trade channels to the Middle East is one of the Ministry of Commerce’s top directives in 2009 that the Department of Business Development fully implements by detailing out a policy to actively and aggressively develop the Thai business, to press on with good policy and to revamp weak measures. This focuses on the promotions and developments of businesses from incubation to fruition under the main objective of upgrading the Thai businesses to an international level so that they are up to the standard and fully capable of competing both locally and internationally.
