Bangkok--17 Jun--Thai Airways
Thai Airways International Public Company Limited has established “SPA” (Special Process Audit) H1N1 Preventive Measures, a team responsible for conducting internal audits of the Company’s Influenza A (H1N1) measures.
THAI continues to place high level of importance on implementing strict measures in areas concerned with passenger services, in an effort to prevent an outbreak of Influenza A (H1N1). These preventive measures are of particular importance as the World Health Organization (WHO) has raised the level of influenza pandemic alert to phase 6 and the Ministry of Public Health has issued a directive regarding Influenza A (H1N1). The SPA Team conducts internal audits in 2 areas, every week, as follows:
Ground Customer Services
The SPA Team conducts audits by interviewing ground customer services staff on duty at the check-in counter, passenger lounge, boarding gate, and arrival gate. Members of THAI’s SPA Team also survey to measure employee knowledge and understanding of the Company’s Influenza A (H1N1) measures, passenger screening on departure and arrival, and maintaining public health and sanitation in the passenger lounge. The SPA Team is also responsible for conducting an audit of flight crew and cabin crew, in order to measure their level of understanding of Influenza A (H1N1) measures conducted inflight, and passenger screening for influenza-like symptoms. Furthermore, employees on flight duty must be screened by Thermo Scan at the airport quarantine area.
Ramp Handling
The SPA Team conducts audits on preventive cleaning measures performed on aircraft returning from high risk countries. The team is responsible for auditing ramp handling staff who spray EcoTru 1453 disinfectant and change TRUE HEPA air filters, which are High Efficiency Particulate Arrestors that filter 0.001 micron particles for clean air that is 99.999% particle-free. As well, ramp handling staff are audited for disinfecting 36 common touch points on aircraft returning from high risk countries.
Furthermore, THAI is monitoring the Influenza A (H1N1) situation closely as announcements are made by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Public Health, in order to make additional measures to ensure the public health of customers, passengers, and staff.
