Le Meridien Angkor conducts a charity event over the Christmas and New Year period every year in support of the Kantha Bopha Foundation's Jayavarman VII Children's Hospital.
The Hotel's adopted charity since 2006, the Kantha Bopha Foundation relies 100% on donations to fund its medical services and provides free health care for Cambodian children and literally saves the lives of thousands of children every year suffering from tuberculosis. Annually the Foundation run by Dr Beat Richner serves 100,000 vaccinations and 600,000 visits by sick children.
In December 2008 the Hotel organised a sale of teddy bear soft toys, adorning a tall Christmas tree placed in the lobby of the Hotel. Hotel guests who purchased the teddy bears at USD10 each had the option to either take the soft toy home with them, or leave the teddy bear under the Christmas tree, together with a personal message written onto a card, to be given to a child at the hospital. All proceeds were donated to the children's hospital.
Le Meridien Angkor's General Manager Gregory Anderson commented, "2008 marks the third year of the hotel's involvement with Khanta Bopha Children's Hospital, raising a total of USD3,700. We are truly delighted at the outcome and the generosity of our guests. It is gratifying to support the Hospital towards meeting their fund-raising objectives and to be able to make some contribution towards the community within which we operate.
