DHL Global Forwarding teams up with BFS to enhance cargo security

Bangkok--22 Jun--Hill & Knowlton DHL Global Forwarding, one of three business units of DHL, the world’s leading logistics company, and Bangkok Flight Services have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in Air Cargo Security Partnership. The initiative demonstrates DHL’s commitment to offering the best-in-class services to customers and affirms DHL’s superior security standard that ensures customers’ air cargo requirements are met. Under this joint agreement, DHL Global Forwarding and Bangkok Flight Services will share best practices in security principles and together establish standard operations procedures for air cargo handling. The procedures include security risk assessment, crime data analysis, infrastructure protection, pre-employment screening as well as safe and secure handling of valuable cargo. Mr. Stewart Sinclair, Managing Director - Bangkok Flight Services and Senior Vice President Asia - Worldwide Flight Services, said, “We are honored to be chosen by DHL Global Forwarding to participate in this initiative to prevent cargo crime throughout the supply chain. Our customers will enjoy more benefits out of this team up with Bangkok Flight Services that allows both organizations to jointly incorporate expertise to enhance security measures.” In addition, DHL Global Forwarding uses advanced technology to assist in the security practice. Its warehouse at the Suvarnabhumi Airport Free Zone, for example, is equipped with closed circuit TVs that monitors inbound and outbound cargo 24 hours a day. All employees at the site also receive extensive ongoing security training. Most high value freight handled at the DHL Global Forwarding facility includes high-technology products, pharmaceutical products and fashion items. This partnership brings both organizations to another level of accountability in security in that they are both TAPA (Transported Asset Protection Association) certified, which means their end-to-end supply chain activities have met Freight Security Requirements.
