Bangkok--24 Jun--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) encourages listed companies to join the Employee Joint Investment Plan (EJIP). This plan increases working motivation and ownership, leading to more effective operations. Moreover, the plan also promotes saving habits and dollar cost average investment, reducing risks and giving long-term returns. It creates value investors, which in turn enhances the Thai capital market’s strength. “SET has launched the Employee Joint Investment Plan or EJIP. This plan will allow employees to gradually invest in their employers’ shares as they wish, by investing evenly, while the companies will contribute a certain amount of money into the employees’ account to buy the company’s shares. The first listed company to join this plan is CP All PCL, the 7-11 convenience store operator, having Phillips Securities (Thailand) PCL as the plan’s operator,” said SET President Patareeya Benjapolchai. “CP All PCL is the first firm to join this plan because we are confident that giving an opportunity to our employees to have a sense of ownership will benefit our organization and is another form of compensation to our employees. This plan is in line with our policy to always search for new forms of compensation to employees,” revealed Chief Executive Officer, CP All PCL, Korsak Chairasmisak This plan will receive greater attention in the future and more listed companies are expected to join in. Phillip Securities is ready in all aspects to manage the EJIP for other listed firms. Once listed firms join the EJIP with Phillip Securities, participating employees could easily monitor their investment portfolio through Internet accounts anywhere anytime and trade stocks, derivatives, unit trusts via their own account, said Phillips Securities (Thailand) PCL Managing Director Suchai Suthusthamkul. EJIP is a result of a successful investment promotion in Japan and is appropriate in Thailand. The plan allows employees to allocate part of their salaries to invest in their company’s shares regularly, by month or by quarter, and part of the portfolios will be given by the firm. It is a dollar cost average investment, an investment technique that reduces risk and gives good long-term returns, together with having a securities company manage the portfolios and report performance. The plan will result in an increase of value investors, efficient investment culture and more sustainable capital market.
