Thailand Futures Exchange PCL (TFEX) will hold TFEX Simulation 2009: Click2Win, the futures and options trading competition that helps investors learn before they actually trade. Competitors will have a chance to win prizes worth THB120,000 (approx. USD3,521).
“This is a futures and options Internet trading simulation competition, operated under real circumstances. The simulation will use real-time trading data, helping investors learn about any product traded on TFEX and see how different trading strategies work in differing case, building investor skills and confidence. In addition, TFEX will hold seminars promoting basic knowledge of products traded on TFEX and trading strategies, which can applied to the simulation,” said TFEX Managing Director Kesara Manchusree.
This contest will run from July 1 — October 30, 2009. Applicants can send in orders for futures and options trading during these months. Those interested in joining the competition’s trial round (September 1-30, 2009) and the professional round (October 1-30, 2009) must trade a minimum of five contracts each of SET50 Index Futures/Stock Futures/Gold Futures and a minimum of 20 contracts of SET50 Index Options to have a chance to win the prizes. The 10 applicants having the highest profits in the trial round will win prizes worth THB5,000 each, while the three applicants having the highest profits in the professional round will win prizes worth THB30,000, THB20,000 and THB10,000, respectively. Moreover, there will be a prize worth THB10,000 for TFEX member companies’ professional having the highest profits.
“The simulation will teach how to place margin, mark-to-market, and calculate end-of-day profit-loss according to actual rates used in TFEX, especially for SET50 Options. TFEX was requested to develop derivatives trading simulations to help investors learn and become familiar with options. TFEX is now considering a study on contract specifications and accepting more market makers to increase liquidity,” concluded Ms. Kesara.
