Best application developers from all platforms to be selected to win over one million Baht in prizes
True continues to support new Thai software developers by joining with leading content partners including Aview Media 360, GMM Grammy, INN, Matichon, MCOT, The Mall Group and True Fantasia to launch the “True App Center Awards.” The contest will seek out the best handset software developers for five popular mobile phone operating systems: iPhone, Windows Mobile, Symbian, Blackberry and Android. Students and the public are invited to submit their entries featuring their unique ideas under the Thai theme to win over one million baht in prizes. The winners will be supported in entering the world application market. Applications and submissions to the contest can be found at www.trueappcenter.com. Deadline for submission is October 15, 2009 and the winners will be announced on November 5, 2009.
Mr. Adhiruth Thothaveesansuk, Managing Director, Convergence, True Corporation Plc, said, “True continues its True App Center initiative to produce Thai software developers who meet international quality standards by providing a training program that provides comprehensive instruction on software design and development for all platforms as well as professional business planning and marketing techniques. To further our program, we announced the True App Center Awards contest to find the best application developers across all five programs. The contest is open to new application developers, including students and members of the public, to show off their creativity and launch their applications into the international market, paving the way to becoming professional developers. The True App Center Awards will be a new stage open to Thai software developers to fully demonstrate their talent. The promotion of software development skills will elevate the Thai telecommunications industry while helping to meet our customers’ needs for content and application downloads. In turn Thailand will be able to generate more income from the international application market which has a value of over Baht 17.5 billion.”
Mr. Pichit Thanyodom, Chief Information Officer, Convergence, True Corporation Plc, stated, “The True App Center Awards is open to students and the public who wish to develop applications running on the iPhone, Windows Mobile, Symbian, Blackberry and Android platforms. The entries have to relate to the Thai theme of the contest. Entries must include applications that are designed and developed into any of the four areas including entertainment, games, utility and info & news. The selection of the entries is based on criteria including innovation & creativity, usability / stability / performance, user-friendliness / experience, commercial / marketing potential, value for the user, and the Thai theme. The panel of judges includes qualified people from Mahidol University International College and the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC) and True Group’s executives. The winner, 1st and 2nd runner-ups will receive funds to support the further development of their application plus awards in total value of over one million Baht. The winning applications on the iPhone platform will be deployed in the App Store and the best entry on the Android platform will be showcased together with others from many countries at the world exhibition forum in Hong Kong that will be held by Conexus Mobile Appliance, the largest network of mobile communication operators in Asia.”
