Bangkok Bank in association with several other business partners and government organizations initiated the ‘Open the World of Learning for Children’ project providing upgraded used computers to schools in need. The computers are ready to be used and have been installed with the latest software and educational applications to serve as windows to a world of learning.
Bangkok Bank Executive Vice President Bordin Unakul said the bank is working with the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) under the Ministry of Education, the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), Cisco Systems (Thailand), Hewlett-Packard (Thailand), Microsoft (Thailand) and TT&T to initiate the ‘Open the World of Learning for Children’ project supporting education in information technology at disadvantaged schools around the country. The project provides personal computers, accessories and applications developed to support learning.
As part of the project, Mr. Bordin said the project team has identified the minimum specifications of the computer equipment, conducted quality assessment and installed a number of learning applications for fundamental subjects, including the Thai language, science and mathematics. The project team also identified schools suitable to receive the computers, installed equipment at the schools and organized training for teachers on using the computers as a learning aid.
“Bangkok Bank and its partners in the project hope that the donated computers will help improve information technology learning at these schools in need. The project also reflects effective co-operation between the public and private sectors in supporting education in Thailand, sharing resources and business expertise to help meet the needs of society,” Mr. Bordin concluded.
