Thai bourse to hold roadshow in Chiang Mai on August 1

Bangkok--29 Jul--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) joins with the Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Thai Industries, Bankers Club, and Securities Industry Club to hold a major roadshow on saving and investment, SET in the City in Chiang Mai, on August 1 at Lotus Hotel Pang Suan Kaew. This event will promote knowledge to the region, leading with specialists to build confidence in the economy and advise on saving alternatives for people in the north. “This roadshow is in line with SET’s marketing plan to consistently expand its investor base, after a tremendous success of a similar roadshow in Nakorn Ratchasima this past June,” Chief Marketing Officer, Markets & Post-Trade Services Sopawadee Lertmanaschai noted. As of end-May 2009, Chiang Mai had a saving base of THB113 billion — the highest in the North, accounting for 29.29% of regional savings. Meanwhile, trading turnover during H1/2009 was THB37.02 billion, or 39.24% of total Northern trading turnover. At present, there are 18 securities companies in the province, with 22 branches. Chiang Mai has high potential to expand its investor base,” added Ms. Sopawadee. At this fair, investors can receive advice from specialists in equity, derivatives, gold futures, or mutual funds investment all day, from over 30 companies. There will also be interesting topic seminars, for example, “Increasing your saving value with equity-government bond-derivatives-gold futures-mutual funds” and “Analysis of people’s living conditions from the nation’s economy and financial plans.” In addition, participants can join all-day activities, such as “TFEX Simulation 2009” and “SET Click2Win”, the online trading simulation competition that helps investors learn before they actually trade, with total prizes worth over a THB million; SET Easy Services, SET’s channel to introduce its products and services, allowing investors to easily access information, and pocket books about saving and investment, a worth of THB 120 for the first 300 participants attending the seminars, and souvenirs for those making transactions in the roadshow. To build confidence of participants in joining the event, SET will prevent the spread of swine flu by fumigating disinfectant in the area before the event and providing hand cleaning gel and distributing free face masks for participants.
