EXIM Thailand Joins Forces with Russian Banks to Boost Russian Import of Thai Goods and Services

Bangkok--4 Aug--EXIM Thailand EXIM Thailand signed the 32-million-USD RTFF contract with Russia’s VTB Bank and JSCB Lanta-Bank to promote Russian import of Thai goods and services. Dr. Pruttichai Damrongrat, Deputy Finance Minister, witnessed the contract signing ceremony between Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Thailand) and two Russian banks, namely VTB Bank and JSCB Lanta-Bank, whereby EXIM Thailand extended a 32-million-USD Revolving Trade Financing Facility (RTFF) to its Russian counterparts. The ceremony was held in Moscow, Russia, on 30-31 July 2009. This Russian-Thai cooperation aimed to support Russian importers in buying Thai merchandise and services. EXIM Thailand also signed a Cooperation Agreement with Vnesheconombank, Russia’s state-owned bank with a mandate to promote the nation’s economic development. Such agreement also aimed to enhance trade opportunities of the Russian and Thai business sectors. Additionally, Deputy Finance Minister Pruttichai discussed with Thai entrepreneurs in Russia on the prospect of exporting Thai capital goods for heavy industry in Russia.
