ACM Narongsak Sangapong, THAI’s Senior Executive Vice President, Corporate Secretariat, and Acting President, said that as a Bangkok Airways’ airplane incurred an accident, the runway at Samui Airport has closed as of 15.00 hours on 4 August 2009. The Company is not able to operate flight departures and arrivals; therefore, it is necessary to cancel 2 return flights routed Bangkok-Samui v.v. on 4 August 2009, departure flight TG287 and return flight TG288. There were 149 passengers booked on flight TG287 and 143 passengers booked on flight TG288, whereby the Company arranged hotel accommodation for these passengers.
Once Samui Airport reopens, the Company will operate flights as normally scheduled. The Company has organized the following special flights for passengers requiring assistance, as follows:
Flight TG2879 will depart from Suvarnabhumi Airport at 09.40 hours and arrive in Samui Airport at 10.45 hours.
Flight TG2889 will depart from Samui Airport on 11.25 hours and arrive in Suvarnabhumi Airport at 12.30 hours.
The Company will continue to operate return flights on the route Bangkok-Samui at 2 flights per day, utilizing Boeing 737-400 aircraft, as follows:
