Seagate Technology (Thailand) Limited, Korat operations has received Thailand’s National Outstanding Safety Factory Award 2009 from the Department of Employee Welfare and Labor Protection, Ministry of Labor. It is the third straight year Seagate’s Korat operation has received this award.
Mr. Peerapol Wilaiwongstien, vice president of Korat Operations, Seagate Technology (Thailand) Limited, said Seagate Korat employees have been diligent in ensuring that the highest levels of safety are met each day on the job. “At Seagate, safety is a key part of our corporate culture,” he said. “This award reflects the commitment and proactive efforts by all our employees in maintaining excellent safety, health and environmental standards in our workplace.”
The award will be presented by the Minister of Labor at Khon Kaen province on 7 August 2009 as Seagate Korat is located in northeast Thailand. Seagate will also be showcased and will share its best practices in chemical management in a safety exhibition held on 7 & 8 August 2009.
To increase awareness on safety, occupational health and working environment for government and private sector employees, the ministry of Labor organizes an annual campaign called the “National Safety Week,” which includes presentation of the National Outstanding Factory Safety Award among its activities. Here, factories have the opportunity to apply and showcase their safety programs to the ministry. There are two level of the award, including Provincial level and National level.
The assessment covers the past two years of safety, occupational health and working environment performance results and the assessment criteria comprises four sections.
Section 1. Site EHS management
Section 2. Site Safety management
Section 3. Site occupational health management
Section 4. Site working environment management
