The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and the Association of Investment Management Companies (AIMC) will hold “The Mutual Fund Fair @ Siam Paragon”, a fair encouraging savings through mutual funds and supporting regular investment through the campaign “Spend less, Save regularly with Monthly Pay-Money Plus” and special promotion for investors who have invested for more than three months. This fair will be held at Siam Paragon Department Store in Bangkok, on August 20-23. 21 asset management companies will participate in the fair by offering more than 1,100 mutual funds
“This Mutual Fund Fair is under the program ‘Let your money work through mutual funds’, held annually for the past five years. This year focuses on investing the same monetary amount each month (Dollar Cost Average or DCA), which helps reduce worries about the market’s volatility with the campaign ‘Spend less, Save regularly with Monthly Pay-Money Plus’. The fair invites investors to start with small but regular amounts,” said Chief Marketing Officer-Markets & Post-Trade Services Sopawadee Lertmanaschai.
“This Mutual Fund Fair emphasizes on encouraging regular saving and diversified investment with risk management. At the fair, participants will also get to know new financial products, e.g., exchange-traded funds, those using derivatives to manage risks, and new property funds,” added Ms. Sopawadee.
“Mutual funds are getting more and more attention from investors, and are growing steadily due to the low interest rates for bank deposits and recent rise of the SET Index. As of end-2008, unit holders reached two million accounts, with assets in all industries, totaling THB1.76 trillion as of July 31, 2009, consisting of 65% in bond funds and 17% in equity funds, and 18% in other funds. In addition, there is a wide choice of investment policies among mutual funds and also more channels to study and more information accesses,” said AIMC Chairperson Voravan Tarapoom.
The fair will be held in the Hall of Fame, M Floor of Siam Paragon Department Store. There, 21 asset management firms will advise on different fund types, calculate taxes for LTFs-RMFs, suggest on how to evaluate fund operating performance.
