Strength and competitiveness enhanced to offer greater customer satisfaction in all “sense of communications”
In celebrating the seventh successful year of its corporatization, CAT Telecom Plc (CAT) announced a major revamp in its organizational structure in order to improve efficiency, competitiveness and ability to better serve customers’ rapidly changing needs. The new structure will be the key to making CAT “the top-of-mind ICT provider” who makes sense of communications.
Mr. Sompol Chanprasert, acting Chief Executive Officer, CAT Telecom, said that CAT has achieved great successes in all areas, ranging from service coverage area, quality and efficiency, throughout the past six years. It has seen a significant progress in its advanced communications technology and network that enable CAT to better address customer’s various communications requirements.
“The current communications market is very competitive and dynamic with rapid changes in terms of technology and users’ demand, not to mention high competition. As the country’s key provider of basic communications infrastructure, CAT needs to have a flexible organization structure that enables us to maximize our capability and potential as well as to move fast. This led to a major organizational restructuring,” said Mr. Chanprasert.
“In the past year, we have gone through a major organizational structure change. Our organization now comprises five major business units, each operates interdependently and has its own vision. We are confident that the new structure will enable CAT to effectively and efficiently improve its service that meets well with Thai consumers’ lifestyle and business needs. This will enable CAT to become the “top of mind ICT provider that customers always think of.”
Under the new structure, CAT will comprise five main businesses. The International Call Service Business Unit will focus mainly in increasing service efficiency and quality. The Provincial CDMA Business Unit will focus its resources and efforts in expanding service coverage area while improving quality of voice and data transmission. The Data Communications Business Unit is responsible for improving the quality of data communications and Internet services. IT Security Business Unit meanwhile will develop and offer IT and communications network security services not only in Thailand but also in its neighboring countries. And, the e-Business will act as an integrated virtual market that supports the government’s e-Thailand policy and help promote the development of e-business in all areas.
Target and vision of each business unit are as follows:
- International Call Service Business Unit has a vision to become one of the top third international corporations in ASEAN and plans to achieve this through strong business alliance, integrated service offering and the right positioning of its products and services.
- Provincial CDMA Business Unit has a vision to become the country’s leading wireless multimedia service provider which can be achieved by synergy and strategic partnership alliance.
- Data Communications Business Unit has the vision to be the strategic provider of world-class ICT solutions with quick market response, clear focus, cost leadership and differentiation.
- IT Security Business Unit plans to become the leader in IT system and network security both in Thailand and its neighboring countries. Its key strategy is to offer a wide range of value added services
- E-Business Unit plans to be the leading ASEAN’s e-Business provider. To achieve this ambitious vision, the business unit will focus on creating and strengthening relationship with both public and private sectors, customers’ satisfaction and integrated human resource development.
“The new organizational structure will enable CAT to offer quality services that best address diverse needs of different groups of customers. This will in the end make all communications experience very impressive one, and enable all user group to enjoy the “sense of communications”.
