Unilever Thai Trading Company Ltd is introducing Unilever Foodsolutions (UFS), one of the world’s leading manufacturers and distributors of food and beverage products, to the Thai market. And it is launching its UFS Culinary Solutions Institute, whose aim is to raise the quality and strengthen the competitiveness of Thailand’s food industry in the global market.
Prasith Preechachalieo, Managing Director — Unilever Foodsolutions explains that, “Unilever Foodsolutions is a food business unit of Unilever Thai Trading Company Ltd with the emphasis on providing direct food services to all types of customers in 70 countries across the world. Our key contribution is that we join forces with companies in the food service business in helping to improve the efficiency of all aspects of food preparation, and save time. We also deliver a wide variety of products of the finest quality to meet the specific needs of customers.”
“The company offers consultancy services advising entrepreneurs on how to run a successful food business and how to manage their resources effectively. This follows our vision of ‘Unilever Foodsolutions, Your Best Solution Provider’,” Prasith said.
Unilever Foodsolutions leverages its excellence in three complementary areas: Best in Culinary, Best in Food Creativity, and Best in Solutions Management. With this approach, it provides business solutions that enable operators to excel in efficiency and cost management, creative menu planning and sales growth; and as a result, Thailand’s food industry will be better able to compete in the world market.
“Unilever Foodsolutions has brought together the experiences and expertise of its 200 chefs from across the world into an initiative that we call ‘Chefmanship’. It arose from the company’s intention to share its expertise and experience with its customers -- chefs, business operators, hoteliers, restaurant owners and sales staff, creating new menu with excellent quality and taste — and we believe it will play an important role in enabling our customers to be successful in their business,” he added.
To support its intention of developing the food industry in Thailand, the company has formed its UFS Culinary Solutions Institute, a culinary academy that will be a centre for food operations conducting research and development in food products in ways that will meet all customers’ requirements. It will be a knowledge sharing centre that provides training courses to increase the potential of personnel in the food industry. It will also be a platform where chefs and business operators meet and discuss their roles, and bring improvements to the country’s food industry.
“We believe in the maxim, ‘We are your best solution provider’,” he added.
“We develop our best quality products to meet a wider range of customers’ needs, and we’re also the solutions provider who provides best choice for our customers. We teach our employees to realize the value of good quality services and products, so we can be sure that our customers are always satisfied with what we provide. We have always been extremely careful to provide the best products and services for our customers. Experience has taught us that we are able to meet each customer’s specific needs, while satisfying the wishes and requirements of consumers in general,” Prasith said.
With over 100 food products in 5 categories: bouillon, seasoning, sauce, dressing and bakery & others, Unilever Foodsolutions provides direct food services to all types of customers including schools, hospitals, hotels, airlines, restaurants, food shops and fast food restaurants. The company generated annual sales of more than one billion baht in 2008.
