THAI Clarifies TG234 Incident on the Route Hat Yai-Bangkok

Bangkok--24 Aug--Thai Airways International On 21 August 2009, M.L. Ajcharaporn Na Songkhla, Director of Corporate Communications, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, provided clarification about an incident concerning flight TG234 on the route Hat Yai-Bangkok, utilizing Airbus A300-600 aircraft with 232 passengers on board, 15 in Executive Class, 217 in Economy Class, and 10 members of flight crew and cabin crew. The flight departed from Hat Yai Airport at 11.27 hours and was scheduled to arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 13.00 hours. When the aircraft approached Suvarnabhumi Airport, tyre no.4 fuse was blown after landing. The pilot made an announcement to inform passengers and had the aircraft towed from the runway to the taxiway, then to the parking bay.. The flight crew reported the incident to be towed to parking bay 202 at 13.25 hours. The pilot-in-command strictly adhered to safety procedures. The aircraft was equipped with safety system concerning tyre fuse to safeguard against tyre burst, whereby the system will release pressure from the upper area of the tyre to depressurize it. The Company affirms that it places high emphasis on passenger safety. Nevertheless, the Technical Department has conducted a thorough check of the aircraft concerned to find the cause of the incident and found nothing abnormal with the aircraft brake system.
