Bangkok--25 Aug--Aziam Burson-Marsteller HP introduced the new HP StorageWorks 2000 G2 Modular Smart Array (MSA2000 G2) family of SAN devices. It is designed to meet various needs of enterprise customers from the growing organization constrained by tight budgets and limited IT expertise to the large organization which finds it hard to manage smaller departments as well as those that are located remotely. With the very latest functionality and technology at affordable prices, it offers flexible solutions to meet diverse business needs. HP offers three host interfaces the SAS MSA2000sa G2, the Fibre Channel MSA2000fc G2, and the iSCSI MSA2000i G2. All models support optional controller/based snapshot/clone functionality to give a highly secure solution for IT requirements. MSA2000 G2 family key features and benefits Leverage the benefits of the MSA2000 G2 family to the customers’ advantage in order to improve their IT infrastructure: - Flexible drive types and sizes: The MSA2000 G2 arrays offer a choice of drives—high-performance enterprise-class SAS drives, and low-cost, high-capacity archival-class SATA drives—to help customers select the best option for the requirements. Various models come standard with drive bays to simultaneously accommodate either 12 Large Form Factor (LFF) 3.5-inch drives or 24 Small Form Factor (SFF) 2.5-inch dual-ported SAS drives and SATA drives. - Cost efficient: The MSA2000 G2 family supports single and dual controller models. Choose a single controller model for low initial investment, or a dual controller model for greater data protection and higher performance. Our SAS drives are ideal for mission-critical workloads needing the highest performance. Our SATA drives give customers excellent performance and cost benefits for their archival storage. - Enhanced performance: With MSA2000 G2 arrays customers can count on up to four times the bandwidth of the early MSA arrays. - Easy to service: The MSA2000 G2 family supports customer replaceable hot-plug components such as drives, controllers, fans, and power supplies. - Support of over 500 LUNs (depending on configuration) with LUN sizes up to 16 TB: The MSA2000 G2 arrays have more than sufficient LUNs for storage configuration flexibility. - High availability for business continuity: The MSA2000 G2 reduces risk of IT failure with active/active controllers, dual-ported drives, and redundant hardware components. - Room to grow: Depending on the model, the MSA2000 G2 can support multiple drive enclosures up to 60 LFF drives or 99 SFF drives. - Increased level of data protection: All the MSA2000 G2 models offer increased data protection with the controller-based snapshot and cloning functionality offered by the optional HP StorageWorks MSA2000 Snapshot and HP StorageWorks MSA2000 Volume Copy Software. Controller-based snaps require no host resources being used, and produce space-efficient, copy-on-write snapshots and clones. - Efficient design: The MSA2000 G2 array unit comes standard with battery cache protection so there is no requirement for a special UPS, providing savings on costs as well as additional rack space. The MSA2000 G2 arrays occupy only 2U of rack space and include 12 (LFF) or 24 (SFF) drive bays along with space for two controllers. Each additional drive enclosure or JBOD also occupy only 2U of rack space.
