Emerson Climate Technologies sponsors two Thai representatives to participate at the WorldSkills Competition (Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Category) to be held during August 29 — September 8, 2009 in Canada
Emerson Climate Technologies sponsors two Thai students from Rajamangala University of Technology Isan to participate at the 40th WorldSkills Competition in Canada. This is their 2nd sponsorship granted to Thai students to step up to a world-class competition in order to create reputation for the country.
Mr. Arup Majumdar, Director Marketing, Emerson Climate Technologies, discloses about the company’s participation at the WorldSkills Competition and sponsorship towards the Thai national team today that the company will provide technical supports, training, tools and equipments, as well as prize money to two Thai students, namely Mr. Prawit Boonla, a Gold Medalist, and Mr. Korakot Chumsang, a Silver Medalist, from the Asean WorldSkills Competition 2009 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The sponsorship provided to both students, which are from Rajamangala University of Technology Isan, is meant to equip both students with practical trainings and preparations for the 40th WorldSkills Competition 2009 — Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Category — to be held in Calgary, Canada during this coming August 29 — September 8, 2009.

Assistant Professor Chuchai T. Siriwattana, appointed advisor to the Thai national team, further added that Thailand has sent in her national team to participate at this WorldSkills Competition, which was formerly known as the Skill Olympics, since 1993. All representatives in the past 4 competitions, which were students from Rajamangala University of Technology Isan, could do well and gradually ranked upwards, i.e. the 4th runner-up in 2001 at the competition in South Korea, the 3rd runner-up in 2003 at the competition in Switzerland, a bronze medalist in 2005 at the competition in Finland and a silver medalist in 2007 at the competition in Japan. This year, the two representatives were highly determined and committed than ever and vowed to do their best to bring fame and glory to their beloved country.
About WorldSkills Competition 2009
WorldSkills Competition, or Skill Olympics, is organized bi-annually by the International Vocational Training Organization. The 45 member countries take turns to host the event, which was first held in 1950 in Madrid, Spain. Thailand first joined the competition in 1993 and won her first silver medal in air conditioning and refrigeration category from the 39th WorldSkills Competition in 2007 when Mr. Nattapong Panyasri, the winner of the National Skill Competition, successfully competed in the competition.
