Bangkok--4 Sep--SET
Thai PM Abhisit will join The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and UBS Securities (Thailand) Ltd., during September 21-23 in a roadshow to New York. He will present information to create confidence among foreign investors in Thailand as an investment destination. Prior to that, SET, Capital Nomura Securities PCL and Nomura Securities will hold a roadshow in Japan during September 7-8.
“Three SET-listed companies will provide information to leading institutional investors in Tokyo during the roadshow,” said SET President Patareeya Benjapolchai.
“Many fund managers will come to find out more about economic and investment conditions in Thailand, including SET’s new products. Listed companies will have an opportunity to directly give information to investors. Meanwhile, SET will receive the opinions and perspectives of institutional investors regarding the Thai capital market, including their problems and obstacles. There will be both one-on-one and group meeting,” said Ms. Patareeya.
Three listed companies will join the Tokyo roadshow: Bumrungrad Hospital PCL (BH), Precious Shipping PCL (PSL), and Thai Union Frozen Products PCL (TUF), as they are receiving great attention from Japanese investors.
“This is a good opportunity for the Thai exchange and its listed companies to exchange information with foreign investors directly, which will stimulate investment, particularly in the second half of this year, with the economic situation improving,” said Capital Nomura Securities PCL President Takeshi Nishida.
In New York, PM Abhisit Vejjajiva will provide information about the government’s policy on economic stimulus plans, including Thailand’s economic and political situation. He will present his viewpoint in the SET’s “Investor Forum” to create confidence among foreign investors.
“During the past few months, there have been good signs of an improving economic situation, which a good time to give information to investors. This meeting will be an excellent opportunity for fund managers to pose their questions to the prime minister himself. Thus, we expect that over a hundred managers will participate,” said Ms. Patareeya.
Moreover, PM Abhisit and SET top management will meet with New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) top executives to exchange points of view about global capital market development and directions in 2010, including cooperation between SET and NYSE.
