Agricultural Biotechnology for Better Living and a Clean Environment
The event is jointly organized by the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), and the ABIC Foundation with support from various organizations and companies.
Being the first in Thailand, ABIC 2009 will be of special significance. It will reveal the rapid growth of agricultural biotechnology and help accelerate collaboration among agricultural biologists. The broad range of expertise of the organizing committee guarantees that the conference will provide a balanced overview of advances in diverse biotechnology disciplines from all over the world. The conference venue is an international conference center that will provide an appropriate and secure setting, with up-to-date technical facilities.
ABIC Foundation has selected Thailand as the venue for ABIC 2009. Thailand boasts a considerable number of experts in agricultural biotechnology, with a team of accomplished colleagues able to organize the largest international meeting on agricultural biotechnology. In conjunction with the conference will be a trade exhibition which will also offer a venue for business networking and scientific collaboration opportunities.
Scientific conference program will consist of lectures presented by keynote / plenary / invited speakers, as well as oral / concurrent and poster sessions. The themes of the plenary sessions and subsequent concurrent sessions are described below, along with the corresponding lists of speakers who have confirmed they will be presenting at ABIC 2009.
A comprehensive trade show and exhibition will run concurrently with the conference during the show day 23 — 25 September, 2009. Exhibiting is a must for any company within the industry to increase awareness among the participants.
The Exhibition will showcase the latest development, products, and technology available. All refreshment breaks and the majority of social functions will be held in the exhibition hall.

ดร.คุณหญิงกัลยา โสภณพนิช รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี กล่าวถึงการจัดงานในครั้งนี้ว่า “ปัจจุบัน เทคโนโลยีชีวภาพเกษตรมีศักยภาพสูงในการพัฒนาชาติทั้งด้านเศรษฐกิจและสังคม ด้วยเทคโนโลยีอันทันสมัย จึงทำให้เทคโนโลยีชีวภาพเกษตรสามารถเพิ่มผลผลิต รวมทั้งสร้างความหลากหลายของผลิตภัณฑ์ ช่วยปรับปรุงคุณภาพของผลิตภัณฑ์เพื่อตรงต่อความต้องการ และลดการใช้สารเคมีทางการเกษตร นอกจากนี้ เทคโนโลยีชีวภาพเกษตรยังช่วยส่งเสริมการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากร และจัดการการใช้ทรัพยากรธรรมชาติได้อย่างยั่งยืน ดังนั้น การประชุม ABIC 2009 จะมีผู้เชี่ยวชาญที่มีชื่อเสียงระดับโลกในด้านเทคโนโลยีชีวภาพเกษตรมาร่วมเสนอผลงานและแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้เกี่ยวกับงานวิจัย โดยเน้นความสำคัญของการร่วมมือกันทั่วโลกในด้านเทคโนโลยีชีวภาพเกษตร”
