The Embassy of India is presenting the world premiere of Punarnava: To Kathak Anew at this year’s International Festival of Dance & Music in Bangkok on September 17, 2009.
Highly respected choreographer Kumudini Lakhia has joined hands with renowned musician Madhup Mudgal and lights designer Gautam Bhattacharya to create a beautiful and seamless reinterpretation of the classical Kathak dance into a riveting contemporary production.
As writer Sunil Kothari reports, ‘She (choreographer Kumudini Lakhia) gave it a contemporary and original touch, with her imaginative approach, each stanza seamlessly flowing into the next and the configuration was absolutely riveting! There lie the choreographer's gifts.’
Performed by Katha Kendra, the leading Kathak training institution in India, this stunning and graceful dance showcase is not to be missed!
