Bangkok--15 Sep--Huawei
With a strong commitment to development of the Long Term Evolution (LTE) technologies, Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, today announced its latest achievements in the LTE technologies through the launch in Tokyo of its first LTE lab in the Asia Pacific region, and the large-scale commercial deployment of the world’s first LTE eNodeB.
Huawei has recently announced the launch of the Asia Pacific region’s first LTE lab following the success of the Huawei UMTS Lab in Tokyo, Japan, which was set up in 2006. The LTE lab will enable its research and development team in Japan to work with local operators to conduct rigorous tests on LTE systems before delivery. Furthermore, the lab will serve as an incubator for LTE technologies and as a training facility for the implementation and commercialization of the next-generation wireless technology. The lab’s downlink data rate at application layer can reach as high as 140 Mbps.
In addition, Huawei also announced the installation of the world’s first LTE eNodeB for large-scale commercial deployment, to fulfill increasing demand of customers and operators. This LTE eNodeB is able to fully support a downlink rate of up to 150 Mbps in commercial LTE networks. With higher-speed connection, end-users will be provided with unprecedented mobile data services such as high-definition VOD (Video-on-Demand) and high-simulation video conferencing. The SON (Self Organizing Networks) solution of this eNodeB is able to automatically configure and optimize new cells in an LTE network. With this solution, operators can reduce the expenses in operation and smoothly evolve to next-generation networks without much further investment.
Mr. Wan Biao, President of Wireless, Huawei, said: “It is a great milestone in the development of LTE technologies. Through Huawei’s launches, operators worldwide will be able to offer high-quality LTE services to its users, leading to more awareness and the evolution of the LTE industry.
Technologies
LTE or Long Term Evolution is designed to increase the capacity and speed of mobile telephone networks with the downlink speed of 100 Mbps and the uplink speed of 50 Mbps. The speed can be upgraded to reach customers’ demand.
Base Station is responsible for handling traffic and signaling between a mobile phone and the network switching subsystem. LTE eNodeB is also one of kinds of base stations to support LTE network.
