ULTRA GLAMOUR
Slick 80s inspired separates make a dramatic return. Sexy, sophisticated and supersoft leather takes a leading role from the essential skinny trousers to a body-con shift with draped neckline. Fine leather is also cut into an asymmetric layered skirt and form-fitting pewter frill-edged jacket. Other key pieces include the super-stretchy bandage skirt to a seductive, strapless jumpsuit and beautifully cut, cropped tuxedo jacket — both worked in a precision cut slashed stretch wool. Karen Millen’s signature biker jacket comes in various guises this autumn from an ultra-cool washed leather and jersey version to a classic biker with metal studwork.
STATEMENT TAILORING
Deepest black dominates this autumn with dramatically cut coats and statement-making jackets leading the way. Bold silhouettes rule, from an sharply cut boucl? fitted coat with faux-astrakhan collar and deep cuffs to a plush, double-breasted faux-ponyskin riding coat cinched at the waist with a matching belt. A short, neat Melton wool coat with zip details is finished with a zippered cape. Elsewhere strong shapes are played against softer textures and fabrics; suiting is mixed up with softer knits edged with ruffles or asymmetric hems. For evening tuxedo tailoring is contrasted with a black chiffon blouse with satin ruffles.
POP COLOUR
Fuchsia pink, lipstick red, tangerine and deep purple are used as striking contrasts to a largely black and charcoal collection. Outerwear in hot pop colours includes an orange moleskin biker jacket, hot pink funnel-necked coat and a fitted neon yellow double-breasted jacket. Party pieces from animal print knits in hot pink to beautifully draped and folded cocktail dresses also provide shots of cool colour.
THE ACCESSORIES
Boots are the key accessory for the season from suede ankle boots or mink suede knee-high boots decorated with matching bows to the essential over-the-knee stretch suede boot. Bows also decorate faux python mary-janes and 40s inspired tweed peep-toe courts. Bags play on contrasting textures mixing patent leather, faux-ponyskin and python.
