Bangkok--21 Sep--Image Impact
On September 22 and 23, 2009, internationally acclaimed Taiwanese choreographer Lin Hwai-Min will enthrall the audience with his creative rendering of Moon Water (or Shui Yuei in Chinese), one of the must-see productions of this year’s Bangkok’s International Festival of Dance & Music.
Set to a selection from J. S. Bach’s Six Suites for solo cello, this contemporary dance to be performed by Cloud Gate Dance Theatre from Taiwan underlines the ideal state for Tai Chi practitioners, “Energy flows as water, while the spirit shines as the moon”. This is interpreted both physically, in the stage design, and conceptually, in the choreography as verified by the Daily Telegraph: “The grace of it, in a way, is balletic, but its evasion of the norms of gravity, its total fluidity, suggests that there is a new book of the human dancing body waiting to be written with Tai Chi training”.
In 2008, Mr. Lin Hwai-Min became the first Asian choreographer to receive the International Movimentos Dance Award (Lifetime Achievement) from Europe, and Moon Water provides a great opportunity for us to experience Mr. Lin’s creativeness.
