ASUS Allies with Garmin to Approach PDA Phone MarketUnder the Brand garmin — asus with the Launch of N?vifone M20 in Thailand Affirm Leadership in Communications and Navigation Technologies
ASUS allies with Garmin to collaboratively develop a navigator phone called N?vifone, a location-based communications device, under the brand garmin-asus. The N?vifone M20 will be the first model to debut in Thailand.
ASUSTek Computer (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and Garmin Ltd. announce their alliance to combine their complementary resources. ASUS has leading system integration and telecommunication technologies while Garmin is the global leader in navigation. It is purposed to develop product specifications, manufacturing, design and distribution for LBS-centric communication device in order to fulfill customer requirement at best.
Mr. Edison Wang, Product Manager of garmin-asus Thailand, stated that “garmin-asus N?vifone M20 is a colorful navigator phone in a compact size. It is equipped with Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system, LBS (Location Based Services), mobile web browser, and navigation tools. It is accessible through a very intuitive and finger-friendly interface.”
“It contains touch-screen display and 3 main functions. Firstly, Call Function is design to provide easier access. Secondly, Seach Function is operated with POI (Points of Interest) system, which is loaded with details of millions points of interest. Lastly, View Map Function comes with preloaded map of Thailand. Therefore, customers will receive turn-by-turn voice-prompted directions to millions of destinations, utilizing a real GPS receiver, without accessing their carrier’s data plan. If a turn is missed along the route, the n?vifone M20 will automatically recalculate a route and get the user back on track. Furthermore, it also automatically marks the position in which it was last removed from mounting in the car to help users find their car in a crowded parking lot.”
Mr. Edison Wang added that “garmin-asus N?vifone M20 combines usages which are able to fulfill requirement of businessman, traveler, and common users more completely and seamlessly than other phone in the market.”

Mr. Somchai Sitthichaisrichart, Managing Director of SiS Distribution (Thailand) Public Co., Ltd. — the distributor of garmin-asus, revealed that “We are appointed as the first distributor of garmin-asus navigator phone in Thailand. We believe that this product line has distinction from amongst mobile communications devices. Our target group will be customers who use communications devices with navigation maps, as it is a new and interesting market. We plan to expand our market through our originally own distribution channels and the new channel, which is GPS store.”
garmin-asus N?vifone M20 is now available in 3 optional colors, which are black, red, and blue. It is priced at 15,900 Baht (includes VAT).
