Bangkok--30 Sep--Wonderex The Department of Intellectual Property in cooperation with the Royal Thai Police, the Customs Department and the Department of Special Investigation organized a destruction ceremony of more than 120 tons of intellectual property rights infringing goods worth 621 million bath. Klong Luang Cargo Station : Mr. Alongkorn Ponlaboot Deputy Minister of Commerce presided over a destruction ceremony of confiscated intellectual property rights infringing goods. The ceremony, one of the IPR enforcement activities under the Thai Government, was co-organized by the Ministry of Commerce by Department of Intellectual Property, The Royal Thai Police (the Central Investigation Bureau, the Metropolitan Police Bureau, Provincial Police Region 1, 2, 7), the Customs Department, the Department of Special Investigation and IPR owners. More than 120 tons of 557,876 goods destroyed were seized by the mentioned government agencies in 1,265 cases. Mr. Alongkorn said that “the confiscated goods are illegal; we should not let them get back to the market. The objective of this activity is to prevent counterfeit and pirated goods from getting back to the market and to show the government’s strong and steadfast policy towards IPR enforcement.
