AlphaPet Starts production

Bangkok--30 Sep--Indorama Polymers Indorama Polymers PCL, Thailand (IRP) and it US subsidiary AlphaPet Inc. is pleased to announce the startup of its first train of the 432 KMT PET manufacturing facility in Decatur, Alabama on September 22nd, 2009. The plant is currently producing prime quality PET resin since the 25th of September. “Investment in AlphaPet reiterates our strong commitment to the growth of PET packaging for beverages and our confidence in the North America market. AlphaPet has commissioned the latest and the “state of art” technology of melt to resin (MTR) and it is a proud moment for all of us at Indorama to demonstrate the groups technical skill over and above our managerial strength which we are better known for.” D.K. Agarwal, CEO of Indorama Polymers Plc. said. The AlphaPet site is co-located to BP’s PTA assets in Decatur, Alabama. This virtually integrated facility will help IRP to participate in the value chain and strengthen its competitiveness. Furthermore, AlphaPet site will add to IRP’s flexibility and reliability to serve customers throughout North America. The second train is scheduled to start before the end of 2009 and at that time, IRP group will reach a worldwide capacity close to 1.5 million tpa of PET resin, placing them as the second largest producer in the world. AlphaPet Inc. is a 100% subsidiary of Indorama Polymers PLC, a Listed entity on the Stock Exchange of Thailand. Indorama Polymers PLC is a approximately 70% owned subsidiary of Indorama Venture PLC, a Thai conglomerate with interests in the Polyester Value Chain of PTA, PET and Polyester Fibers. The consolidated revenue of Indorama Ventures PLC for the year 2008 was US$ 2.65 Billion.
