Service Delivery Platform Installation in Latin America and HSPA+ Services in Europe
Huawei today announced two new milestones in the Western telecom industry through the deployment of the new Service Delivery Platform (SDP) solution in the Latin American region and the launch of High Speed Packet Access Evolution (HSPA+) services in Portugal. These key achievements are solid proof of Huawei’s strong commitment to the global telecom industry as these two innovations will deliver access to cutting-edge services, as well as unprecedented experiences, to customers worldwide.
Huawei successfully deployed Telefonica’s SDP covering 13 countries in the Latin American region, with Brazil and Mexico as the central points, in just less than six months. During the implementation and delivery phase, Huawei was responsible for not only integrating diverse network equipments and BSS systems, but also providing consultancy services featuring business analysis, architecture design and service planning. Huawei’s installation of the SDP will enable Telefonica to provide a complete portfolio of value-added convergent services and diverse devices to both mass and enterprise markets including small- and medium-sized enterprises.
Considered as one of the largest of its kind in terms of scale and complexity, the SDP helps facilitate the integration of various network equipments from different vendors and delivers access to the most innovative services such as mobile advertising, messaging tools for the management of different e-mail accounts, network storage and management of SMS and Mobile Newspaper.
In Europe, Huawei collaborated with Sonaecom, a leading telecom provider in Portugal, to deliver High Speed Packet Access (HSPA+) Evolution services that support a downlink data rate of up to 21.6 Mbps. In addition, Huawei has provided an end-to-end solution with state-of-the-art HSPA+ networks and mobile broadband modems customized to meet the specific demands of Sonaecom subscribers.
As a leading provider of end-to-end mobile broadband solutions, Huawei has provided services to more than 315 international networks. Its customized devices are supporting and driving the rapid growth for mobile broadband services, as demand for these products has far exceeded industry forecasts over the past three years. According to consulting firm ABI Research’s 2008 annual report, Huawei secured 55% of the global mobile broadband terminal market, solidifying its position as a clear leader in this field.
