HP introduces the new HP StorageWorks X1000, X3000 Network Storage Systems and HP StorageWorks X500 Data Vault Series for small and midsize businesses to gain competitive edge and lower costs.
The HP X1000 and X3000 Network Storage Systems enable customers to easily manage and grow their storage capacity by consolidating file and block data into a unified storage solution. As a result, companies can reduce costs and simplify data management by maximizing the utilization of storage resources. These new products increase performance by up to 30 percent over previous HP network attached storage (NAS) and unified storage solutions.(1) It is ideal for small and midsize businesses as well as enterprise branch offices, and has the flexibility to be used as a file server, print server or an iSCSI target for hosting application storage. Customers can also use the X3000 gateways as an iSCSI bridge to a disk array or storage area network (SAN) to create a virtual storage environment. The ease of deployment and versatility of these solutions allow IT managers to quickly respond to changing business demands without the costs of using a storage expert.
The network storage systems include the Single-instance Storage file deduplication feature that eliminates up to 35 percent of disk space by storing only one instance of a file on the disk array.(2) This provides customers with more storage capacity and increased data availability needed to support rapid business growth.
The X1000 and X3000 are built on new energy-efficient HP ProLiant G6 servers that deliver double the performance of previous generations. The solutions are also pre-installed with Microsoft? Windows? Storage Server 2008 and Microsoft iSCSI Software Target, which are optimized for storage efficiency.

HP also introduced HP StorageWorks X500 Data Vault Series to help small and midsize businesses (SMBs) improve data security, maximize productivity and minimize business risk while significantly reducing costs and energy use.
For affordable data management, the HP StorageWorks X500 Data Vault Series allows small and midsize businesses to remain competitive by improving the protection of critical business data and automating backups. It enables small businesses with up to 10 PC and Mac clients to store information in a central place and easily share files regardless of employee location. Also, business owners can save money through a low purchase price, which is up to 22 percent less than comparable solutions.(3)
